Craigdarroch Cottage

Craigdarroch Cottage is our place in Strathyre. It's a stone cottage, detached, so no neighbours on the other side of the wall. It was built around 1800. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and comfortable but not luxurious.

The cottage looks out over the fields and hills. You get a good view from the front door and the garden. The garden itself is at the back, it's enclosed. There's a patio with a table and a BBQ.

Strathyre is a small village. There's a shop and a pub, both about a five minute walk. The pub does food. You can walk to the river from the cottage. There's a kids' play park nearby too.

You're right in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The forest trails start practically from the doorstep. If you cycle, the Callander to Killin route goes through the village. You can hire bikes locally. There's a free tennis court a short walk away.

Fishing permits for the River Balvaig are available in the village. Rob Roy's grave is at Balquhidder, about a ten minute drive. Stirling is about half an hour away for the castle and the Wallace Monument. Gleneagles is under an hour if you golf. Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh are all between one and one and a half hours by car.

Inside, there's a woodburning stove in the living room. Facilities include a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's parking for one car on the drive. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
