The Smiddy

The Smiddy is in Lochearnhead. It's a detached cottage, right on the edge of the village at the west end of Loch Earn. It's quiet, but you can walk to the shingle beach and the village centre in a few minutes.

It was a smiddy, so the main room feels solid. There are stone walls and a woodburning stove. The farmhouse style kitchen and living area are all open plan. It sleeps six in three bedrooms, with one bathroom. The rating is 3 Star. It's comfortable and clean, not modern luxury.

The stairs up to the bedrooms are steep. There's a downstairs loo under them.

The village has a shop and a pub, both half a mile away. The pub does food. You're in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, so walking is right from the door. There are hills all around.

If you've got a boat, there's a visitor's jetty and moorings on Loch Earn provided, and you can use the slipway. You can hire watersports gear in the village. Fishing is local too.

Stirling is about a 40 minute drive. There are about 20 golf courses within an hour's drive, if that's your thing.

For facilities: it has a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking for two cars. A cot and highchair are there if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
