Forest View

Forest View is a lodge just outside Strathyre. It's on a small private park next to the River Balvaig, with the forest on the other side. It feels tucked away but the village is only half a mile for the shop and pub.

The lodge sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. Everything's on one level, which is handy. The doors open straight out onto the decking and the garden.

Inside it's open plan. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. It has modern central heating too. The beds are Hypnos ones, they're good. You get a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are included.

Outside space is the main thing. You've got your own bit of garden and decking. The river runs along the boundary. Fishing is included for up to two rods, if that's your thing. Red squirrels are around a lot. We've seen otters occasionally, and someone once spotted a pine marten further up the track.

For getting out, you're right in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The Rob Roy Way and a National Cycle Route go through the village. You can walk or cycle straight from the lodge. Loch Lubnaig is a few minutes down the road for kayaking or paddleboarding.

Callander is about nine miles away. It's a proper little town with shops and places to eat. For a day out, a drive through the Trossachs to Loch Katrine for a boat trip is nice. Stirling Castle is about 24 miles, so less than an hour's drive.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside.
