Aisgill Farm Stable is a cottage for two on our working farm in Outhgill. It used to be a stable. It's got a 4 Star rating.
Downstairs is one open room with the kitchen, dining area, and a sofa. The dining table is a nice piece, made by one of the early apprentices of Robert Thompson, the Mouseman. It's got a foxtail carved on the leg. The kitchen has what you need. There's a Smart TV and wifi.
Upstairs is the bedroom. It's got the original beams and a double bed. The shower and sink are in the corner of the bedroom itself. The toilet is separate, in its own little room. It's a bit of an unusual setup but it works fine. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase.
Outside, there's a little patio area with a table and chairs. You can park right outside. We can store bicycles.
You're on a farm here, so it's quiet. The views are of the fells. Wild Boar Fell is right there. Aisgill Force waterfall is a short walk away. For a proper walk, you can head up into Mallerstang. The Settle to Carlisle railway line runs past, quite high up. You can see the trains from here sometimes.
Kirkby Stephen is the nearest town, about ten minutes by car. It's got shops, cafes, and a couple of pubs. For a longer trip, you're right on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Lake District is about a 40-minute drive west, towards Haweswater or Ullswater.
There's fishing in the River Eden if you have a permit. You might see curlews and red squirrels around the farm.
