The Old Manse

The Old Manse is a detached house just off the road in Clova. It's at the very end of the Glen, so the views are all mountains. You won't see another house from the windows.

It sleeps up to ten people in five bedrooms. There are three bathrooms and a separate shower room. The rating is 5 Star, which covers things like the hot tub and the games room. It's a big, solid house, not a twee cottage. The rooms are all good sizes.

The garden is enclosed, which is good for dogs. We allow up to two pets. There's parking for several cars on the drive.

Inside, there's a woodburning stove in the living room. We provide the logs. The kitchen has a dishwasher and there's a utility room with a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We can put a cot up if you need one.

As for the area, you're right in the middle of it. The local hotel, the Glen Clova Hotel, does food and is a few minutes' walk. For a shop, you'd need to drive to Kirriemuir, which is about 12 miles back down the glen. That's where you'll find supermarkets and other shops.

For walking, you're at the foot of the mountains. You can walk up into Glen Doll from the house. The road ends about a mile further on, and that's the start of the path into the corrie. If you're bringing bikes, the quiet glen road is good for cycling.

Golf courses are at Kirriemuir and Forfar, both within a 30 minute drive. Fishing is available on local beats of the South Esk, but you'd need to arrange permits in advance.

Further out, Glamis Castle is about a 25 minute drive. Dundee is under an hour, for things like the V&A museum or the RRS Discovery.
