The Gardener's Bothy is in Glenprosen village, up in Angus. It's a one-bedroom place, sleeps two. It's got a 4 Star rating, which mainly means it's comfortable and well looked after.
It's on the Balnaboth Estate. The cottages here used to be for estate staff, shepherds and such. This one’s the old gardener's place. It's quiet. You'll see red squirrels and deer around. Good view of the river from here.
The estate land is good for walks right from the door. You're on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park too. You can go for longer drives into the hills if you want.
Inside it's tidy. One bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom has a shower. There's a woodburning stove, which is handy. Washing machine, cot and highchair if you need them. Parking right outside.
You can bring one dog. The stairs inside are a bit steep, just so you know.
For shops and pubs, you need to drive. Kirriemuir is the nearest proper town, about nine or ten miles. It's a nice drive down the glen. From there you can get to the Angus coast or into Dundee in under half an hour. National Trust for Scotland has a few properties around if you like that sort of thing.
That's about it. It's a good spot if you want somewhere quiet to come back to.
