House of Light is in Harwich, over on the east coast. It's a three bedroom house that sleeps eight. There's one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious.
The name comes from the windows. It's a bright house. The living room gets the sun in the morning.
You can bring one dog. There's a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, and there's wi-fi. Each bedroom has its own smart TV and a way to make a coffee. The garden is small but it's there. There's parking on the street outside.
Harwich is a proper port town. It's not a resort. The history is in the streets and the old buildings. You can get the foot ferry across to Shotley or Felixstowe from the harbour. It's useful for a change of scene.
If you want a classic seaside day, Clacton and Walton-on-the-Naze are along the coast. They've got piers and amusements. You can hire a beach hut there.
Colchester is about half an hour's drive. The castle is good, and there's a large zoo there if that's your thing. The train from Harwich to London takes about an hour and a half if you fancy a day in the city.
For local walks and history, the National Trust Essex Coast site has details. The Visit Essex website is also useful for planning.
