The Hemmel is in Branxton, Northumberland. It's a semi-detached cottage next to a smaller one called The Granary.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One bedroom has a four-poster bed and a large en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The second bedroom has two single beds that can be joined to make a double. There's one main bathroom downstairs. The whole place is on one level, so no stairs. The front door and the patio doors are wide enough for a wheelchair.
Inside, it's open plan. The kitchen, dining and living area is all one space with a wood burner. There are big patio doors and skylights, so it's bright. The furniture and finish are good – it's a comfortable, well-looked-after place.
The garden is enclosed. There's parking right outside. You're welcome to bring up to two dogs.
The owners live nearby and have a few pet alpacas and sheep in the field. You'll probably see them.
Location wise, you're in the countryside. The Scottish border and the River Tweed are very close. For a day out, Holy Island is about twenty minutes' drive. Bamburgh Castle and its beach are maybe twenty-five minutes. Alnwick Castle and its gardens are just over half an hour away. The beach at Goswick is vast and often quiet. Berwick-upon-Tweed is about fifteen minutes for shops and a train station.
