Argyle House

Argyle House is in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. It’s a big, Victorian place near the seafront. It sleeps a lot of people, 21 at the last count. There are twelve bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It’s rated 4 Star.

The house is split into a main house and an annexe, so it can feel like two separate spaces if you want. That’s useful with a big group. The kitchen is large, with two dishwashers and a decent range. The dining room has a big table that seats everyone.

You’re about a minute’s walk from the seafront promenade. The town’s shops, pubs, and places to eat are all a short walk away. Rothesay is interesting, it’s got a bit of a faded seaside charm with palm trees and a castle ruin.

The ferry from Wemyss Bay is straightforward. It takes about 35 minutes. Once you’re here, getting around is easy. The roads are quiet, good for cycling if you bring bikes. There’s storage for them here.

Ettrick Bay is the main beach. It’s a sandy beach, about a ten minute drive north. Good for a walk or a swim if you’re brave. The water is cold.

For a day out, Mount Stuart house is worth a visit. It’s a Victorian Gothic mansion with impressive gardens. The Bute Gin distillery is in the town if that's of interest.

Facilities: everything you’d need for a big group is included. Bedding, towels, washing machine, cots, highchairs, stairgates. There’s WiFi and TVs. The garden is enclosed. You can bring two dogs.
