Fircliff - The House On Bute

Fircliff is a big house in Port Bannatyne on the Isle of Bute. It sleeps fourteen, in six bedrooms. There are five bathrooms. Four of the bedrooms have their own showers. The main bedroom has a big roll-top bath as well.

It's a Georgian house right by the water. All the main rooms look out over Loch Striven. You get a clear view of the sea and the hills. The garden is walled and enclosed, so it's private.

The kitchen and dining area is where everyone ends up. There's a large table that seats everyone. The furniture is interesting, some nice old pieces. There's a games room with twin beds, and a room with twin beds and a bunk bed for kids.

Practical things: there's a boot room with a washing machine and a drying rack. It's good for wet coats and dogs. You can bring two dogs. There's parking on site.

The shore is right there. You can launch kayaks from the garden. For bigger boats, you can launch locally.

Port Bannatyne has a pub about 550 yards away and a restaurant a quarter of a mile. There's a shop half a mile away. The main town, Rothesay, is about three miles. The ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay takes 35 minutes. You don't need to book.

For things to do, the island is good for walking and cycling. The roads are quiet. There are three golf courses. The beaches are sandy and you might see seals or dolphins. For a day out, Mount Stuart House and Gardens is worth a visit. The Rothesay Castle is in town.
