The Old Granary is here on our farm in Monkswood. It's a working sheep farm. You'll see the sheep in the fields around the cottages. The cottage is detached, set around a big courtyard.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom is downstairs with its own bathroom. The other two are upstairs. The stairs are oak and glass, quite open. They're fine, but watch your head if you're tall, the beams are low in the living area. There's a wood burner, so it's cosy in winter.
You're on a farm, so it's quiet. The views are over our fields and the countryside. We've got about 135 acres, with 30 acres of woodland you can walk in. You can start a walk from the door.
The local pub is about half a mile down the lane. They do food. The nearest shop is in Usk, about four miles. Usk is a nice little town with a castle, some independent shops, and a few pubs. It's known for its flowers.
You're in a good spot for getting out. Raglan is about eight miles, with its castle and a good farm shop. Tintern Abbey is about a twenty minute drive, down the Wye Valley. It's impressive. Abergavenny is fifteen minutes the other way. That's where the famous food festival is in September.
If you like walking, you're close to the Brecon Beacons and Offa's Dyke. There are golf courses around. You can go fishing locally. We can sometimes arrange clay pigeon shooting on the farm if you ask in advance, for an extra cost.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi. The garden is enclosed. Parking is right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and highchair if you need them. Sorry, no pets.
