The Hayloft is a barn conversion near Raglan, in Monmouthshire. It's for two people, new, and it's got a 4 Star rating.
You walk into one big room, which is the kitchen, dining and sitting area. It's double height, so lots of light from the windows up high. The stone walls are original and there's underfloor heating. We put in a wood burner too. The bedroom is on a mezzanine floor above the living space, with a king size bed. The stairs up are open tread and a little steep, you should know that.
Outside, there's a small enclosed garden with a patio, a table and chairs. There's a bike rack if you bring bikes. You can charge an electric car here.
The conversion is part of a small group of barns. It can be booked with the cottage next door, The Stables, if you're a bigger group.
For things to do, Raglan Castle is about three miles away, it's impressive. The Forest of Dean is a 20 minute drive. They've got miles of walking and biking trails, you can hire bikes there. The Wye Valley is lovely, about half an hour. Good for a gentle canoe trip or a walk along the river.
Abergavenny and the Brecon Beacons are easy for a day out, maybe 40 minutes. Cardiff and Bristol are about 45 minutes to an hour if you want a city.
