Sugarloaf Hut is up near Glascoed in Monmouthshire. It's one hut on a golf course, looking out over Llandegfedd Reservoir. The view is the main thing. You can see the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains from there.
It's for two people. One room, really. A double bed area, a small kitchen and a sofa, all in one space. There's a shower room too. It's got a wood burner. It’s a 5 Star rating, but that’s more about the finish and the view than it being a big place.
You get up there in a golf buggy. The hut is at the top of the course, so the buggy comes with it. There's a proper enclosed garden outside with seating. It has an outdoor stone bath with hot water, which is a bit different. There's a barbecue and firepit as well.
The golf club is right there if you want to play a round. The reservoir is next door for walks or water sports. It's in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Usk is a nice town about fifteen minutes away by car, with some decent places to eat. Abergavenny is a bit further, maybe twenty-five minutes. That’s a proper market town with a good food festival.
Parking is at the clubhouse, not right at the hut. You take the buggy from there. There's an EV charger at the clubhouse too. The garden is enclosed, so one well-behaved dog is allowed. Bedding and towels are included. There’s WiFi and a TV.
