Samlesbury Hall Hamlet

It's called Samlesbury Hall Hamlet. It's a set of shepherds huts in the grounds of Samlesbury Hall, near Preston. The hall's been there since the 1300s.

You rent a cluster of huts together. There are three huts, each sleeps four in two double beds, so twelve in total. Each hut has its own en-suite bathroom. They're really well made, solid oak and memory foam mattresses. It's proper glamping, comfortable but not a normal cottage.

The main thing to know is there's no kitchen in the huts. There is an award-winning restaurant on the hall estate, and a waffle house called Dotties. You can eat there or drive to a pub.

The huts are assembled in groups, so you'll have your own little corner with a barbecue and outdoor seating. The site has eighteen huts in total, so you'll see other people, but it's not hectic.

Being on the hall grounds means you can just wander over. They run events, theatre, tours, and there's a resident witch who does history talks about the Samlesbury witches. For kids, there's a driving range with crazy golf, an adventure trail, a playground, and a bee centre.

Location wise, it's about half an hour to the edge of Manchester, maybe forty minutes to Liverpool. The Ribble Valley is on your doorstep for walks. The River Darwen and Samlesbury Bottoms weir are nice for a stroll.

Facilities are what you'd expect: bedding and towels are included, there's Wi-Fi and parking. No pets.
