The Granary Matshead

The Granary is a converted barn in Matshead, near Bilsborrow in Lancashire. It's detached and sits down a quiet lane overlooking fields. It was done up a few years ago, so it's in good nick. It's got a 4 Star rating.

It sleeps four. Two large double bedrooms, both with their own en-suite shower rooms. That's handy if you're two couples, or if you've got teenagers who take ages in the bathroom. The stairs are standard.

Downstairs is all open plan. Kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine, then a living and dining area with a wood burner. There are double doors out to a little front garden with a table and chairs. The view from there is just fields. It's quiet.

You're about a mile from Bilsborrow itself. There's a shop, a couple of cafés and a pub or two there. For a bigger shop, Garstang is about three miles away. It's a nice market town.

Barton Grange's Flower Bowl is very close, just over a mile. It's a big leisure place with a cinema, bowling, crazy golf and curling. Good if the weather turns.

You can get to Blackpool in roughly half an hour. The coast road up into the Lake District takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on where you're heading. The Trough of Bowland and the Forest of Bowland are right on your doorstep for walking. Beacon Fell Country Park is very close, and the Lancaster Canal towpath is good for a flat bike ride or stroll.

Facilities: It's got parking right outside. WiFi, TV, all bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a stairgate if you need them. No pets, sorry.
