Woodpecker Cottage is in Whitechapel, Lancashire. It's a detached cottage on its own plot. You get good views over the fields and a lake from the main room and the patio.
It sleeps four. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-finished. It's all on one level for the living space, so the entrance and main area are wheelchair accessible. There's a mezzanine bedroom upstairs reached by a spiral staircase. It's quite steep. The en-suite shower in that room is behind a frosted screen, so it's part of the bedroom.
The living area is open plan with a wood burner. There's underfloor heating. Patio doors open onto a patio with a hot tub under a gazebo. The garden is yours to use.
Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved pet is welcome.
You're at the foot of Beacon Fell, in the Forest of Bowland. There are walks straight from the door. The fell summit is a short drive or a decent walk up; the views are good on a clear day. The area is quiet. There's a local pub within walking distance that does food. There are also two gin distilleries nearby, one does tastings.
For a day out, Lancaster is about twenty minutes by car. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is roughly half an hour's drive to the east. The Lake District is about forty-five minutes north. The Fylde coast, including Blackpool, is around thirty minutes south.
