Woodpecker Cottage is on its own in Whitechapel, which is a tiny place up near Beacon Fell. It's detached, so you've got your own space.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is up on a mezzanine, so it's open to the living area below. The stairs to get up there are spiral and a bit steep. The shower for that room is just up there behind a frosted screen, it's not a separate room. There's underfloor heating downstairs and a wood burner.
Outside, there's a patio with a table and chairs. The view looks out over a lake and fields. The hot tub is under a gazebo, so you can use it in the rain. It's a nice spot.
The location is quiet. You can walk to a pub from here, it does food. There are also two gin distilleries very close by, if that's your thing. One does tours and tastings.
For walking, you're right at the foot of Beacon Fell. The footpaths start from the door. The Forest of Bowland is all around you. Nicky Nook and the Grizedale Valley are popular nearby walks.
If you want to drive out, Lancaster is about 20 minutes. The Fylde Coast, like Lytham, is maybe 40 minutes. The Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District are both within an hour's drive for a day out.
It's a 4 Star place, so it's well kept. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, and parking. You can bring one dog.
