This is my place, Five Barred Gate Barn. It's in the hamlet of Whitechapel, which is really just a few houses near the bottom of Beacon Fell. It's a detached stone barn that was built a long time ago. It's just for two people, there's one bedroom and one bathroom.
The inside is open plan downstairs. It's got the kitchen, living area and a wood-burning stove all in one room. That's good if you want to chat while someone cooks. The heating is under the floor so it's nice and warm. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and has everything you'd need.
Outside, it's quiet. The garden is enclosed, just a lawn and a patio. You can sit out there and look over the fields. There's parking right next to the barn.
The location is quiet. You're surrounded by fields. It's a proper rural spot but not totally isolated. The nearest pub is about a mile's walk away in Woodacre. There's a shop and a couple of places to eat about three miles away in either Garstang or Longridge.
If you like walking or cycling, it's good here. Beacon Fell Country Park is right on the doorstep. The Forest of Bowland is all around, and it's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can just step out the door.
For a day out, you can drive to the coast at Blackpool or Lytham St Annes in about half an hour. Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley are about 20 minutes away. Lancaster is 30 minutes, and Preston is about 15 minutes if you need a big supermarket or the train station.
Inside there's a washing machine and dishwasher. Wi-Fi works fine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Sorry, no pets allowed.
