Siskin Lodge is a cabin up by Lunga in Argyll. It's detached, tucked into a wooded hillside. You look out over mossy rocks and wildflowers straight to the sea. The view is across to the Firth of Forth and the Sound of Jura. It's very quiet.
It's for two people. One bedroom, it can be a double or two twins. There's a good bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. The main room is open plan: kitchen, dining, sitting area with two sofas and a TV. There's a washing machine and tumble dryer in a separate laundry bit. That's handy for wet clothes.
It's a 3 Star place. That means it's comfortable and clean, not luxurious. The access is along a private track from the main house, about half a mile. It's fairly level. There's a gate they sometimes close for farm animals. Parking is right by the cabin.
You're on an estate with horses roaming, so it's good walking. The track goes on past the cabin for about a mile to an old farmhouse, then it's just coast and empty land. You can walk to hill forts and rock carvings. It feels very remote.
There are two other cabins in the same wood. You can't see them.
The local pub doing food is at Craobh Haven, about three quarters of a mile. It's a yachting pub, gets busy, you should book. For a big day out, the boat trips from Craobh Haven to the Inner Isles are superb. Don't miss them. You can book horse riding at the nearby stables.
Arduaine Gardens are four miles away. Oban is about half an hour's drive for proper shops and ferries to the islands. The National Trust for Scotland looks after the gardens. The area is full of things to find: the museum at Kilmartin, the Crinan Canal, ruined castles. Just exploring the side roads and little villages is a good day.
Outside, there's a big timber deck with furniture and a BBQ. You can bring two dogs. They ask that you clean up after them.
If you need more space, Siskin can be booked together with Catkin Lodge and Teasel Lodge. That sleeps fourteen in total.
