Harbour Street is one of the cottages on the harbour in Portmahomack. It's a end-terrace house. The view from the front garden is straight out over the firth to the Sutherland hills on the other side.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The heating is electric, and there's a wood-burning stove in the living room. You'll need to bring your own wood or buy it locally. The WiFi works.
The garden wraps around the cottage. It's mostly lawn. The front bit is a paved sitting area, which is where everyone ends up to watch the water. You see fishing boats coming and going. We've seen dolphins from there, and seals are common. You might see more with binoculars.
The village has a pub that does food, a restaurant, and a cafe. The sandy beach is a five minute walk. There's a 9-hole golf course up the hill. It's unusually dry and sunny for the Highlands here.
You can walk out to the Tarbat Ness Lighthouse. The coastal path goes east from the village towards other places like Rockfield. Tain is about a fifteen minute drive for supermarkets and other shops. The Glenmorangie Distillery is there, and so is a good links golf course.
For a short trip, the Nigg Ferry takes you across to Cromarty. It's a small ferry, only takes two cars at a time. From Tain you're on the A9, which is part of the NC500 route. Dunrobin Castle, John O'Groats, and the north coast beaches are all within a couple of hours' drive for a day out.
Facilities: washing machine, TV, bedding and towels are included. There's parking. No pets.
