Rosslyn Cottage is in Portmahomack. It's a stone cottage on a quiet lane. The beach is about fifty yards away, just across the lane. It's a proper sandy beach, with views across to the mountains.
The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own showers. The stairs are the old, wide kind. They're not steep, but they do have a bit of a turn at the bottom. One bedroom has a kingsize bed, the other has twin beds. You can see the sea from both.
Downstairs, there's a living room with a wood burner. The kitchen is through an archway. It's a decent size and has a dishwasher and washing machine. Outside is a small, walled courtyard. It gets the sun and has a table and chairs.
The village is small. There's a pub that serves food about a ten minute walk away. A good seafood restaurant is right by the harbour, maybe two minutes from the cottage. There's a small shop about five minutes away.
You can walk along the coast path to the Tarbat Ness Lighthouse. It's about three miles. The Tarbat Discovery Centre in the village is worth a look if you're interested in local history. Tain, the old town, is a ten minute drive for bigger shops. Glenmorangie distillery is just outside Tain.
If you're driving, Dornoch is about half an hour. It has a famous golf course and a big cathedral. The Falls of Shin, where you can sometimes see salmon jumping, is also within a thirty minute drive.
Facilities: parking for one car right outside. Wifi, TV, bedding and towels included. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
