Grieve's Cottage

Grieve's Cottage is a small stone house on our farm, about a mile outside Portmahomack. It's one of three cottages here. You get your own garden and it's open all around. The views are just fields and sky.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have their own shower room, which is handy. It's all on one floor. We've tried to make it comfortable. There's a leather sofa, a good TV, and WiFi.

The cottage is on a quiet lane off the main road. It's part of a working farm, so you'll see us and the livestock coming and going. Please drive slowly up the lane.

Outside, there's a hot tub. It's in its own bit of the garden, next to an old summerhouse with a table and chairs. The garden has a fence but it's not fully dog-proof, so you'd need to keep an eye on a determined one. We allow up to two dogs.

Portmahomack is a small village with a beach, a good pub, a couple of places to eat, and a shop. The beach is sandy and looks out towards the mountains. You can walk there from the cottage in about twenty minutes, or drive it in two.

From the cottage door, you can walk down the lane to the local lighthouse. You often see seals there. The golf club is just down the road. Tain is about a ten-minute drive if you need a bigger supermarket.

In the house you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, towels and bedding are included. There's parking right outside.

For planning trips, the Historic Environment Scotland site has details on local places like the Tarbat Discovery Centre. The Visit Scotland pages are useful for wider ideas.
