The Paddock
The Paddock is one of three cottages on our farm about a mile from Portmahomack. It's a single-storey stone building, so everything's on the ground floor. You look south over our fields towards the Moray Firth. You can see the Cairngorms on a clear day.
It sleeps five in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs. We allow two.
Portmahomack village is a nice walk down the lane. It's got a sandy beach, a small harbour, and a pub about half a mile from the cottage. The village shop is about a mile. There's a good seafood restaurant there too.
Tain is about fifteen minutes' drive. It's a proper town with shops, a supermarket, and a few places to eat. The Glenmorangie distillery is just outside Tain if you like whisky tours.
You're on the coast here, so it's good for walking. The Walkhighlands site has routes. For history, the Tarbat Discovery Centre in the village is interesting. If you want a longer trip, the drive over the bridge to Dornoch is about forty minutes.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside. Remember it's a working farm, so you'll see tractors and sometimes livestock.
