This beautiful, detached stone barn conversion makes ideal self-catering accommodation for couples wanting to get away to the countryside and explore the delights of the Cotswolds . Situated in a field with beautiful views, this quiet spot is on the edge of the rural village of Weston Subedge. To the front of the property is a great sitting area, the perfect place to catch the sunshine, or you can enjoy eating al fresco to the side on the picnic bench. On the ground floor is an open plan living space with the shower room leading off, and up the wooden stairs is a mezzanine-style double bedroom, a lovely retreat for a good night’s sleep.
Originally built in 1869, the barn was used for storage for the boxes and ladders used to pick the fruit in the surrounding orchard. Over the past few years it has been thoughtfully converted to a lovely space for a peaceful retreat. The meadow surrounding it is slowly being replanted with various trees, including fruit and especially cherry trees.
This is an ideal location for walkers with the village being at the foot of Dover’s Hill, where you’ll discover plenty of footpaths, and the start of the Cotswold Way close by in Chipping Campden. At Dover’s Hill’s summit, you have far-reaching views over the Cotswolds countryside and is well worth the climb. It was also the site for the original English Olympic Games which began over 400 years ago in 1612. The tradition continues with the annual Cotswold ‘Olimpicks’ held on the May Bank Holiday weekend - a fun-packed day for all ages. There’s much more to this historical amphitheatre than just fun and games, it is also the site of a Roman vineyard, grasslands and woodlands which are home to a variety of birds, insects and wild flowers.
The popular Cotswold town of Chipping Campden, just over a mile away, boasts a beautiful high street with tea rooms, restaurants and gift shops. Other towns and villages within easy driving distance include Snowshill and Stanway for popular walks, Broadway with its tower overlooking the town, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh and Cheltenham, home to the famous racing and music and literary festivals.
