Lesta Cottage

Lesta Cottage is in Bielby, a quiet village in East Yorkshire. It's a small, two bedroom place that sleeps three. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The cottage is old, so the ceilings are low. There are wooden beams. The stairs go straight up from the living room and they're quite steep, so you need to be careful.

You get in through a locked door into a covered passageway. It's handy for putting muddy boots or bikes. There's a washing machine in a cubby hole off it. Then another door goes into the kitchen. The kitchen is galley-style, so it's narrow but it has what you need. There's a welcome pack left for you.

The living room is at the front. It's got a wood burner, which is nice in the colder months. There's a TV, a sofa and an armchair. The flooring downstairs is solid oak.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has a solid wood double bed. The second bedroom has a single bed and you get to it through a wooden sliding door. The bathroom has a freestanding bath with a shower attachment. There's no separate shower cubicle.

At the front there's a small gravelled area with a bench and a wall. It's enclosed.

Facilities are straightforward: WiFi, a cot and highchair if you need them, bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is allowed.

The village is quiet. For a shop or a pub, you need to drive about four miles to Pocklington. It's a market town with the basics. The Pocklington Canal walk starts nearby, which is good for a stroll.

York is about a 30 minute drive. Hull and the East Yorkshire coast, like Hornsea or Bridlington, are within about 45 minutes. There's an outdoor pursuits centre at Allerthorpe, which is close by.
