The Parlour

The Parlour is a barn we converted a few years ago, near Marton in Shropshire. It's for two people. There's one bedroom with an en-suite shower room, and it's all on one level so no stairs to worry about.

It's part of a set of buildings. Our house is on one side, and there's another holiday let called The Dairy on the other. You have your own garden, which gets the sun. There's private parking for two cars right by the garden. The garden has a table and chairs and a shed you can use for bikes. There's also a two-acre field behind that you're welcome to walk in.

Inside, it's one big open space. The ceiling is high with old beams. There's a wood burner for colder nights, a decent sized TV, and a kitchen with a dishwasher. Through a door there's a utility room with a washing machine. The bed is a good size.

You can bring up to two dogs. All the bedding and towels are included. We leave a cot and a highchair in there too, in case you need them.

The village of Baschurch is about two and a half miles away. It has a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a bus stop if you want to get to Shrewsbury or Ellesmere without driving. The nearest pub is about a mile.

It's a good spot for getting around. Shrewsbury is about twenty minutes by car. Ellesmere is closer, maybe fifteen minutes, and has the mere there which is nice. Further south you get into the Shropshire Hills, which is about half an hour's drive. Ironbridge is a bit less than that.

For planning days out, the National Trust Shropshire page lists their properties, and the Shropshire Hills site is useful for walking.
