The Old Forge

The Old Forge is in Saxilby. It's a detached single-storey cottage, used to be a blacksmith's. It's in our garden, but it's all yours, feels private.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well done up and comfortable. Everything's on the ground floor, no stairs to worry about.

The main thing is it's quiet, but you're not cut off. There's a shop about twenty seconds away. A pub a couple of minutes down the road. A few places to eat in the village too.

Lincoln is the big draw. It's about a fifteen minute drive. The cathedral and castle are up on the hill, that's the Bailgate area. You can walk down from there to the Brayford Wharf by the water. It's a proper city day out.

From the cottage door, you can walk along the canal. It goes all the way to Lincoln one way and towards the River Trent the other. Good for cycling too if you bring bikes. There's fishing nearby and a local golf course.

Newark Showground is about twenty minutes by car if there's an antiques fair on. If you fancy getting into the countryside, the Lincolnshire Wolds are maybe forty minutes drive.

Inside, it's open plan. There's a woodburning stove, makes it cosy. It's got the things you need: a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, WiFi. Parking is right there. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
