Stable Yard Cottage
Stable Yard Cottage is in Selborne, Hampshire. It's part of the old stable yard for Gilbert White's House, which is next door. You get your own entrance and a private patio area that looks out over the gardens.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms, with two bathrooms. One's an ensuite. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's been done up well and is comfortable. It's over three floors, so there are a few stairs. They're fine, but it's something to know if stairs are an issue.
The main thing is you get unlimited access to the Gilbert White museum and the 25 acres of gardens. It's very peaceful. You can walk around whenever you like. Dogs are allowed, one per booking, but they need to be on a lead in the grounds.
Selborne village has a pub and a shop about a hundred yards away. There's a pottery in the village too. For a day out, Alton is close. They have the Watercress Line steam railway. Jane Austen's House at Chawton is about a ten minute drive.
Further afield, you've got the South Downs for walking, or the historic cities of Winchester and Chichester are within about forty minutes. National Trust South Downs has good walking route information. Portsmouth Harbour with the historic ships is just under an hour.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
