Stable Yard Cottage
Stable Yard Cottage is in Selborne, Hampshire. It's part of the old stables for Gilbert White's House. You're right in the middle of the estate, so you get the run of the gardens. They're about 30 acres. It's very quiet.
The cottage sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's over three floors, so there are stairs. They're normal house stairs.
The best thing is that your stay includes unlimited entry to the museum at Gilbert White's House. It's about the naturalist Gilbert White and the Oates family explorers. You can just wander in from the cottage. The gardens are open to you anytime. Dogs are allowed, but they need to be on a lead in the grounds.
The village shop and the pub are about a hundred yards away. The pub does food. There's a pottery in the village too.
Alton is ten minutes by car. That's where you'll find the main shops and the station for the Watercress Steam Railway. Jane Austen's House in Chawton is very close. For a longer day out, the South Downs are on the doorstep for walking. Winchester is about half an hour's drive. The New Forest and the coast around Chichester are within an hour.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's parking on site. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
