Louisa's Cottage

Louisa's Cottage is one of two cottages here at Downlands Farm. It's in Oakshott, a small hamlet in Hampshire. You're on a working farm, so you'll see the fields and animals from the windows.

It sleeps five in two bedrooms and has one bathroom. It's a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well equipped. All the living space is on the ground floor. There's a downstairs bedroom and then an upstairs 'hideaway' room that's good for kids. The entrance and some doorways are wheelchair accessible.

Inside it's open plan and gets a lot of light. You've got a washing machine, dishwasher, TV and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. There's an enclosed patio garden with a BBQ and parking right outside.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's also a shared bike shed, and by prior arrangement you can bring horses to use the stables here.

There's a village shop about a mile away, in Hawkley. The nearest pub, The Hawkley Inn, is about half a mile. It's a pleasant walk down the lane. Two more pubs are within a half hour walk or a very short drive.

The main thing here is the access to the countryside. You're right on the edge of the South Downs National Park. A green lane leads straight from the farm into miles of footpaths and bridleways for walking, cycling or riding.

Petersfield is a ten minute drive. It's a proper market town with supermarkets, independent shops, cafes and a train station. The train to London takes about an hour.

Within about half an hour's drive you've got several places. Portsmouth has the historic dockyard and the Spinnaker Tower. Winchester has its cathedral and the Great Hall with King Arthur's Round Table. The New Forest is great for heathland walks. Guildford and Chichester are a bit further, about 45 minutes.

For a day at the coast, West Wittering beach is about an hour's drive. Hayling Island is closer, about half an hour.
