Coachman's Cottage is in Sandwich Bay. It's on a private estate where we run a farm. So it's quiet here, but you'll see farm vehicles going about their business. You've got your own off-road parking space and an electric vehicle charger.
The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. It's open plan downstairs, so the kitchen, living and dining area is all one room. It's got underfloor heating. The stairs are steep and narrow, as you'd expect in a cottage. There's a stairgate at the top.
You get a small, enclosed courtyard with a table and chairs and a barbecue. The entrance to the estate grounds is across the driveway from you. Guests get a pass so you can walk down through the fields to the beach without paying the normal visitor charge. The beach is about a 15 minute walk. It's shingle and usually quiet.
The Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory is right next door. Even if you're not a serious birdwatcher, it's interesting to see what they've spotted. We're on a working farm, so there are sheep and sometimes cattle in the fields around you.
The town of Sandwich is about two miles away. It's a nice old town with a few shops, cafes, and pubs. There's a railway station there with a high-speed service to London. For a bigger shop, you'd drive to Deal or Canterbury.
Golf is a big thing here. Royal St George's is along the coast. There are other courses nearby too, like Royal Cinque Ports and Prince's.
Facilities: there's Wi-Fi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome. The cottage is next to a larger property, Coach House, which sleeps eight. They can be booked together.
Useful links for planning: National Trust South East and Visit Kent. For local walking, the England Coast Path runs through here.
