Thistle Dubh

This is Thistle Dubh. It's in Lewiston, which is a quiet spot just outside Drumnadrochit, near Loch Ness. The cottage is detached and sits on its own.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one wet room bathroom, all on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well set up for someone who uses a wheelchair, with grab rails and level access. It's modern inside, open plan.

You've got your own garden, which is enclosed. There's a washing machine, a TV, and WiFi. Parking is right outside.

There's a shop and a couple of places to eat about a five minute walk away, in Drumnadrochit. The village gets busy with tourists because of the Loch Ness centre, but the cottage itself is tucked back and quiet.

You're about five minutes by car from the shore of Loch Ness itself. Urquhart Castle is just along the road. For walks, you've got the Great Glen Way right there, and Glen Urquhart starts just up the hill. Glen Affric is about a 30 minute drive, it's a proper ancient Caledonian pine forest.

Inverness is half an hour's drive east if you need a bigger shop or the station. The west coast, places like Ullapool for boat trips, is about an hour and a half.

If you're planning trips, these sites are useful: Official Loch Ness website for visitor info, and Forestry and Land Scotland - Great Glen for walking and biking trails.
