Heron's Rest Cottage
Heron's Rest is a one-bedroom cottage for two people. It's detached, but it's next to our house, so you'll see us about. We're in Milton, which is a small place just over a mile from Drumnadrochit.
The cottage has a 3 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and clean, but not luxurious. It's got everything you need. There's a wood burner, which is nice on an evening. The bathroom has a shower, not a bath. The garden is yours to use and it's fully enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing a dog. We allow one.
You can see the river from the garden. There's a heron that visits most days, which is where the name comes from. There's a footpath down to a seating area by the water.
Drumnadrochit has a couple of shops, a few places to eat, and the Loch Ness Centre. Urquhart Castle is a couple of miles down the loch side. It's a ruin, but a good one. The official site is useful: Historic Environment Scotland - Urquhart Castle.
Inverness is about a twenty-minute drive. It's got all the big shops, cinemas, and restaurants. If you want to explore further, Culloden Battlefield is about half an hour away. The Cairngorms National Park starts not too far south, maybe forty minutes' drive. Their site has good information: Cairngorms National Park.
For facilities: there's parking right outside, an electric vehicle charger, WiFi, a TV, and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.
