Heron's Rest Cottage
Heron's Rest Cottage is in Milton, just outside Drumnadrochit. It's a detached single-storey cottage next to our house, but you have your own space. The garden's enclosed, which is handy if you have a dog.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. There's a woodburning stove for evenings, and parking right outside. We've also put in an electric vehicle charger.
You're about a mile from Drumnadrochit village. There's a shop, a couple of pubs, and places to eat there. It's on Loch Ness, so you've got the monster exhibition and Urquhart Castle. The castle ruins are worth a look. Historic Environment Scotland have the details.
Out the back, there's a path down to the River Coiltie. There's a seat there. You often see a heron, which is how the cottage got its name.
Inverness is about a twenty-minute drive for bigger shops or a cinema. If you drive the other way, towards the Moray Firth, you get to some nice coastal towns like Cullen and Findhorn. The National Trust for Scotland site at Culloden is about 25 minutes away.
If you're bringing a dog, that's fine. The garden is secure. Please just keep them off the furniture. We can provide a travel cot and a highchair if you need them. All bedding and towels are included.
