The Old Stables is a first-floor apartment in the old stables on the Gilmilnscroft Estate near Sorn. It sleeps three in one bedroom, with one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, not luxurious.
You're up a flight of external stone stairs to get in. The apartment looks out over the estate gardens, which you're welcome to walk around. There's a refurbished summerhouse you can use too. The Victorian stables below are interesting if you like that sort of thing, the owner can show you.
The village of Sorn is quiet, with a pub and restaurant about a mile away. There's a shop two miles away in Catrine.
For walking, the River Ayr Way starts practically on the doorstep. It's good. The Ayrshire Coastal Path is about a 25-minute drive. Dumfries House is three miles away, that's the big attraction here. Culzean Castle and Country Park is about 45 minutes by car, it's worth a day. Glasgow is under an hour if you need a city. The ferry to Arran is about 50 minutes' drive from here.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and on-site parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. There's bicycle storage if you need it.
