Blackside Cottage
Blackside Cottage is in Sorn. It's a one-bedroom cottage for two people. You're up a single-track road, so it's quiet. The view from the front is over fields and hills. It's a proper countryside view.
It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well-finished. The bathroom is en-suite. There's underfloor heating and a wood burner. Everything's on one level and the entrance is step-free, so it's suitable if mobility is a concern. There's parking right outside.
The garden is at the back. It's got a patio with a table and a barbecue. There's a shed you can put bikes in.
You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed, but it's not totally escape-proof for very small or crafty dogs, so you'd need to keep an eye on them.
For local things, you've got the Sorn Inn about a mile away for food. The Ayrshire Coastal Path is the big draw for walking. Ayr, Prestwick and Troon are about a 20 to 30 minute drive. They have the sandy beaches and links golf courses.
Culzean Castle is spectacular. It's run by the National Trust. It's about 40 minutes in the car. National Trust for Scotland Culzean Castle. Dumfries House is closer, maybe 20 minutes. It's an 18th-century estate with gardens.
If you want to go inland, the Galloway Forest Park is about half an hour away. It's a huge area for walking and they're famous for dark sky spotting. Forestry and Land Scotland Galloway Forest Park.
Inside, you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi and TV. All the bedding and towels are included. The kitchen has what you'd need.
