Blackside Cottage is in Sorn, which is near Mauchline. It's a one-bedroom place, sleeps two. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well looked after. It's wheelchair accessible at the entrance.
The cottage is on its own. You get the garden and patio. There's a woodburning stove for the winter evenings. It's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
The views from the cottage are over fields. It's quiet. The road is single track in parts. You'll hear birds, not traffic.
For a day out, the coast is about a twenty minute drive. Ayr, Prestwick and Troon are all that way. Sandy beaches, usually a bit of wind. You can see Arran from the coast on a clear day.
Inland, there's a lot of history. Culzean Castle is about half an hour away. It's a National Trust property. Robert Burns was from round here, so there are museums and sites related to him if that's your interest.
The Ayrshire Coastal Path is good for long walks. If you want to drive a bit, Galloway Forest Park is about thirty minutes. It's a big area for walking and they have dark sky status for stargazing.
There's golf nearby, including Turnberry. Fishing if you have a licence. You can store bicycles here.
