St Orans Conicavel

St Orans is ours. It's a small, detached cottage for two people, near Conicavel in Aberdeenshire. It's quiet here. The River Findhorn is just along the lane.

It's a one bedroom place, sleeps two, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. We redecorated it a few years back. The track down to it is fine for normal cars, but it is a track, so it's a bit bumpy.

You're surrounded by woods. You can step out the door and go for a walk straight into them. We see deer, pine martens, all sorts of birds. The phone signal is okay, you can get 3G and 4G on mobiles.

There's a woodburning stove for chilly nights. The garden is enclosed, so it's safe for dogs. We take up to two. There's parking right there.

In terms of things to do, you're well placed. The Moray coast is about 14 miles away. It's got good beaches. For walking, you're about half an hour's drive from the Cairngorms National Park. The ski centres at the Lecht and Cairngorm are within that range too.

There are a couple of distilleries on the Malt Whisky Trail nearby, Dallas Dhu and Benromach. For a bigger town, Inverness is under an hour's drive. You've got Loch Ness, Culloden, Historic Environment Scotland sites like Urquhart Castle, all in that direction.

The nearest shop and pub is about four and a half miles away in the village.

Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, the woodburner. Bedding and towels are included. There's local fishing on the Findhorn if that's your thing.
