The View Old Coastguard Cottage

The View is an old coastguard house on the Spanish Battery in Tynemouth. It's detached. It used to belong to the Queen, ages ago. There are some old photos inside that show its history.

It sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but it's not a fancy new build. The layout is a bit quirky because it's an old house.

The main thing is the view. You look out over the sea, towards Tynemouth Priory and the lifeboat museum. There are two outside sitting areas, one at the front and one at the side.

The owner has built a small children's play area in the garden. There are also some bikes you can use, with helmets.

It's about a ten minute walk down to the beach and the main street. There's a pub and restaurant about 350 yards away. The promenade goes for miles along to Cullercoats and Whitley Bay. You can walk to the Spanish City at Whitley Bay for a drink. The weekend market in Tynemouth Metro Station is good, it's about a fifteen minute walk.

North Shields harbour is close by for fish restaurants. You can get the Metro into Newcastle centre in about twenty minutes. Heading north up the coast, you've got the Northumberland beaches and castles. Heading west, you can get to Hadrian's Wall in under an hour.

Facilities: parking on site, a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to three dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
