Poppy Lodge is on a holiday park near Kingsdown, Kent. It's a timber-clad chalet, sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is better than most basic holiday lets. It's clean and does the job.
The main thing is the view. You look right out over the land towards the sea. The beach is a very short walk away.
Inside, it's straightforward. The ceilings slope in the bedrooms because of the chalet shape. The furniture fits. The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher. There's a separate dining area with doors to the terrace.
The stairs are a point to note. They are steep and narrow in places. Anyone with mobility issues or very young children should be aware.
Being on a park, you have access to the shared facilities. There's an indoor heated pool, tennis courts, a mini golf course, and a social club. The on-site pub is handy.
Kingsdown village has a shop and a restaurant about a five-minute walk away. Deal is three miles along the coast. It's a nice town for a wander, with Deal Castle and Walmer Castle there. The beach at Deal is good for a long stroll.
Further afield, Dover with its famous castle and white cliffs is about fifteen minutes by car. Folkestone is a similar distance. Canterbury, for the cathedral and city centre, is about half an hour's drive.
Facilities are as listed. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking by the lodge. You can borrow a cot and highchair. Sorry, no pets.
For planning days out, the National Trust and White Cliffs Country sites have good information.
