Curlew Cottage

This is Curlew Cottage. It's on our farm in Ruthven, Perthshire. The farm is about 2000 acres, mostly arable and some cattle. You'll see tractors going past sometimes.

It's a single-storey cottage, so everything's on the ground floor. It sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom. It's detached and has its own enclosed garden. We've tried to make it comfortable and I think the standard is good. It's got a 5 Star rating.

The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a woodburning stove in the living area. The TV has Freeview and there's WiFi, but it's a farm so the signal can be a bit up and down. All the bedding and towels are included.

You're welcome to bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed but check the fence when you arrive, just in case. There's parking right outside.

The location is quiet. You're down a farm track. It's good for wildlife, we get a lot of birds. For a shop or a pub, you need to go about three miles to Alyth or Kirriemuir. Both have what you need.

You're in the Vale of Strathmore. Glamis Castle is about six miles away. It's worth a visit. For a bigger day out, Dundee is under half an hour's drive, and Perth is about the same. You can be in the Cairngorms National Park in well under an hour, or up to Braemar in maybe an hour and a half if the traffic's light.

If you're here to walk, you can start right from the door. For more organised trips, the Angus Glens are close by. There's fishing on the River Isla, about a ten minute drive.
