It’s a three-bedroom place, sleeps six. Two bathrooms which helps. It's a 4 Star place so it’s comfortable, and clean. We’ve had it done up inside, it's not old-fashioned. There's a wood-burning stove for the evenings. The kitchen is open plan.
The main thing is the space. It's part of an old farm steading, so the cottages are around a courtyard. You get your own bit, but you might see other guests coming and going. Out the back, there are 150 acres of woods and grounds you can walk in. It’s good for spotting deer. There’s fishing on the River Ruel if that’s your thing. The rods are free to use, there’s a hut by the water.
Otter Ferry itself isn’t a village, it’s just a slipway and a few houses. The nearest pub doing food is in Colintraive, about nine miles away. There’s a summer shop nearby but for a proper supermarket you’d need to go further. You should plan to bring shopping with you.
For beaches, it’s about five miles to the nearest one. Tighnabruaich is along the coast, maybe six or seven miles. Nice bay there, a small golf course, a couple of places to eat. The view over the Kyles of Bute is just there, it’s famous for a reason.
You’re in Argyll so it's good for driving to places. Inveraray is about a 45-minute drive north. South, you can get to the Cowal peninsula or over to the Isle of Bute if you get the ferry from Colintraive.
Facilities wise: it's all there. Washing machine, parking right outside, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
