Home Farm Cottage

Home Farm Cottage is one of the old steading buildings on the estate. It’s down a track, so it’s very quiet. You look out onto a courtyard with the other cottages, but each one feels private.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There’s one bathroom. It’s a 4 Star place, which means it’s comfortable and well-kept. We’ve tried to make it a nice place to come back to after a day out.

The key thing is the space around it. You have access to 150 acres of woodland grounds. You’ll see deer, birds, that sort of thing. There’s a fishing hut by the River Ruel. The fishing rights are included if you want to try for trout or salmon.

You’re a bit out of the way here. The nearest beach is about five miles. There’s a summer shop next to the farm itself, but for a main shop you’re looking at about thirteen miles. The pub in Colintraive is nine miles and does good food. Tighnabruaich is about six miles away, it’s got a little sandy beach, a few shops and a nine-hole golf course.

The famous view is the Kyles of Bute. It’s basically a narrow sea channel with hills all around. You can drive to a viewpoint in about six miles. It’s worth seeing.

For facilities: there’s a wood burning stove, parking right outside, an enclosed garden, wifi, and a washing machine. Towels and bedding are included. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.
