Drovers Cottage

Drovers Cottage is in East Meon. It's a one-bedroom place for two people. It's a 5 Star cottage, which means it's well-equipped and finished to a high standard. It's brick and flint, down a track, and looks out over fields. It used to be a stop for drovers moving animals. There are some fir trees next to it that are old landmarks.

The cottage has been renovated. It's open plan downstairs, with a kitchen and living space. Upstairs is the bedroom and bathroom. It's comfortable and quiet.

You can bring one dog. There's parking right outside, and a private garden area with a table and chairs. It's got WiFi, a TV, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them.

The village is about a quarter of a mile walk. There's a shop, a church, and two pubs that do food. It's a proper village, with a thatched roof here and there. The fields around here are old Roman camp sites. You sometimes find oyster shells.

For walking, you're right on the edge of the South Downs National Park. It's good country. Portsmouth and its historic dockyard are about half an hour's drive. Winchester and its cathedral are about 25 minutes. The New Forest is about 40 minutes south. If you fancy a beach, the Witterings or Hayling Island are roughly 45 minutes away.

Other things within a reasonable drive: the Watercress steam train, Jane Austen's house in Chawton, and Gilbert White's house in Selborne. There's fishing in a small lake nearby when it's in season. Petersfield station is about 15 minutes away by car, and you can get a train to London from there in about an hour.
