Barken

This is Barken, a log cabin on a holiday village just outside Trawsfynydd. It's detached and sits amongst the trees.

The cabin sleeps six. There's a double bedroom, a room with bunk beds, and then a double sofa bed in the living area. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The shower room is modern and there's an electric woodburner in the living room to take the edge off an evening.

Outside, there's a private garden. It's got a fire pit, a barbecue area, and there's a little stream at the bottom. Kids tend to like that. You get one well-behaved pet.

For the facilities, you get WiFi, a TV, parking right outside, and all your bedding is included.

Location wise, you're right in the middle of things for North Wales. The village itself is quiet. Bala Lake is about a 20-minute drive east if you want watersports or a walk around the shore. Heading north, you can get to the Llechwedd slate caverns or the Zip World activities at Blaenau Ffestiniog in roughly half an hour.

The coast is about the same drive. Harlech has a great castle and a big beach. Barmouth is a traditional seaside town, and Porthmadog is good for shops and the Ffestiniog Railway. If you're into mountain biking, Coed y Brenin forest is a 25-minute drive.
