Yr Hen Fanc

This cottage is called Yr Hen Fanc. It's near Trawsfynydd Lake in North Wales.

It used to be a bank. The Midland Bank built it in 1960. It's detached. You can still see some of the old bits, like the oak panels and the spyhole in what was the manager's door.

It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms, and three bathrooms. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable.

There's a wood burning stove for chilly evenings. It has a dishwasher, a washing machine, and a TV with WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a garden with a BBQ and you can park on site. We can provide a cot and highchair. Sorry, no pets.

The village shop is about a minute's walk away. The local pub is a mile down the road.

The big thing here is the lake. Trawsfynydd Lake is right there. You can walk or cycle around it. Fishing is popular if you have a licence.

If you want to go out, Blaenau Ffestiniog is about a 15 minute drive. They have Bounce Below, which is trampolining in an old mine, and Zip World Titan, which is a big zip line. The Ffestiniog Railway steam train goes from there to the coast at Porthmadog. That's a nice day out. Portmeirion, the colourful Italianate village, is about half an hour away by car.

The other way, towards Dolgellau, you've got Coed y Brenin forest for mountain biking and walking. The coast, like Black Rock Sands beach, is about a 25 minute drive.
