Aberserw Cottage

Aberserw Cottage is in Bronaber, south Snowdonia. It's a detached stone cottage, down its own track, so it's very quiet. You look out over fields.

It sleeps three, in two bedrooms. One is a double, the other is a single. There's one bathroom, which is on the ground floor. It's a 4 Star place. It's comfortable, not posh. They've kept the old beams and put in oak floors. It feels solid.

The stairs are a typical cottage spiral, so watch your head. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have a dog, but we don't take pets. There's space for bikes under the lean-to. You can park right outside.

For facilities, it's got what you need: washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a BBQ.

You can walk straight out from the door onto tracks. The National Trust has a lot of land around here. The Precipice Walk is a good one, about a 15 minute drive. Cader Idris is closer. Dolgellau is the nearest proper town, about 12 minutes by car. It's got shops, a Co-op, some pubs and cafes. There's a local pub about three miles away.

Barmouth is 20 minutes west for the beach. The Mawddach Trail is lovely for a flat cycle or walk. Portmeirion is about half an hour north. Harlech Castle is a bit further, maybe 40 minutes. If you want steam trains, you can get to the Ffestiniog or Welsh Highland Railways from Porthmadog in around 30 minutes.
