Low Houses Farmhouse is on Dent Bank, near Barnard Castle in County Durham. It's a proper old brick farmhouse, east facing so you get the morning sun. You'll hear sheep, and the river.
The house sleeps four. There are three bedrooms upstairs and two bathrooms, one upstairs and one down. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable. The stairs are a bit narrow and winding, as you'd expect.
There's an open fire in the front room. We leave you some wood to get started. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garden is enclosed and has a table and chairs, and a BBQ. You can see the fields and hills from there.
We accept up to two well-behaved dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside.
For walks, you can pick up the Teesdale Way almost from the door. High Force waterfall is about a fifteen minute drive. It's impressive, especially after rain. Barnard Castle town is a few miles away for shops and cafes. The Bowes Museum is there, which is worth a visit. Raby Castle is about twenty minutes away.
The whole area is the North Pennines AONB. If you want to plan trips further out, the National Trust has places like Gibside about an hour's drive. For local history, The Bowes Museum has their full programme online.
