The Old Police House
The Old Police House is in North Stainley, which is a small village just outside Ripon. It's a detached house. It's big, sleeps fourteen, seven bedrooms, four bathrooms. One of those is an ensuite. There's also a Jack and Jill bathroom between two of the rooms.
It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and finished to a high standard. Downstairs there's a large kitchen with a dining table, a snug with a TV, and a separate living room. The garden is a real feature. It's landscaped, with patio furniture, a barbecue, and a sunken area with a fire pit. There's also a hot tub.
We accept up to two dogs. There's an electric vehicle charger on the drive. Inside, you've got things like a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included.
In the village, there's a pub about 3 or 4 minutes walk away. They do food. For a walk from the door, you can head out into the fields from the end of the lane.
Ripon is about a ten minute drive. It's a small city with Ripon Cathedral, shops, and cafes. The real highlight nearby is Fountains Abbey. It's a National Trust site, about a 15 minute drive. It's the ruined abbey and the Studley Royal water gardens. You can easily spend a day there.
Masham is in the other direction, maybe 15 minutes by car. That's where the Theakston and Black Sheep breweries are if you're interested. Lightwater Valley theme park is also about a 15 minute drive.
For wider exploring, you're not far from the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Places like Thirsk and Harrogate are within a 30 minute drive.
