The Bothy

The Bothy is in Laverton. That's towards the west side of North Yorkshire, not far from the Dales. It's a detached stone cottage. You've got your own private road down to it.

It's just for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-fitted. There's a wood burning stove, which is nice on a cold evening.

I live on site, in the main house. I'm around if you need anything, like a local map or a recommendation, but you're left to yourselves.

You're right on the edge of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can walk straight out the door. The footpath network is good. You'll see plenty of birds.

The local shop and pub are in Kirkby Malzeard, about a mile and a half away. The pub does food.

If you want to drive out, Ripon is a short drive. It's a small cathedral city with a market. Harrogate is about half an hour. Good for shopping and a proper afternoon tea. York is under an hour.

For a day out, Brimham Rocks is strange and good for a wander. The National Trust's Fountains Abbey is spectacular. It's a ruin by a river. About 25 minutes by car.

Facilities here: there's parking right outside. WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a BBQ and a bike storage shed if you need it. No pets, sorry.
