Sealladh Na Mara

Sealladh Na Mara is in South Boisdale, on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. It's a detached house, so no one's attached. The name means 'view of the sea' in Gaelic, which is fairly accurate.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not a basic box.

The layout is a bit different. There's a main living room with a wood burner downstairs. Upstairs, there's a second living area in the eaves. It's a quiet spot with good views, useful if people want to split up.

The garden is just grass. It's enclosed. Good for kids or a dog to run around in. You can see the sea from the house.

Boisdale beach is a walk away. It's a proper white sand beach. You're right on the machair here, which is the fertile coastal strip. It's full of wildflowers in summer.

The local pub is about a mile and a half away in Grogarry. It does food. For shops, you'll need to drive to Daliburgh or Lochboisdale.

If you're into history, the Cladh Hallan archaeological site isn't far. It's a Bronze Age settlement. For a bigger trip, the Uist Sculpture Trail is worth a look, or you can drive up to the causeway to Benbecula and Berneray.

The whole western side of the island is a chain of beaches. You can drive for miles and just pick one.

Facilities: it's got the normal things. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
