Bute Cottage

Bute Cottage is in Daliburgh, on South Uist. It's a detached, single-storey house, so everything's on the ground floor. It's just you and the view.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. There's a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not luxury.

The house looks out over its own small lochan. You get a patio and garden area. It feels very private.

There's a local shop, a pub, and a restaurant about a quarter of a mile down the road. The beach is a couple of miles away.

This is a good spot for seeing the islands. You're well placed for driving up through North Uist or catching the ferry from Eriskay over to Barra. Askernish Golf Course is close by. It's the oldest course out here.

The wildlife is the main event. You might see eagles or hear corncrakes. In summer, there's a chance of spotting whales or basking sharks offshore. The machair land is covered in wild flowers. The west coast beaches are white sand and often completely empty.

If you're interested in history, there's plenty around. The Bonnie Prince Charlie trail, Trinity Temple, and the Kildonan Museum are all nearby. For getting out on the water, the Uist Outdoor Centre in Lochmaddy runs boat trips, sea kayaking, and diving.

Facilities: you've got a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. One well-behaved pet is welcome.
