This place is Sealladh Lingeigh. It's a detached house out in East Kilbride, which is on the way to the island of Eriskay. The name means 'view of Lingay' and it's right about that. You get the whole horizon.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom, which is handy. It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean, warm and solid, not a show home. It’s very bright inside, lots of windows for the view.
You're right on the coast here. The beach is a short walk away, maybe twenty yards. It’s white sand. The machair land behind it is full of wildflowers in summer. You’ll see a lot of birds. Eagles sometimes. From the water, you might spot whales or basking sharks in the season.
The local village has a shop, a pub and a restaurant, about two miles back up the road. The famous one is the Politician Inn on Eriskay, a short drive away. That’s from the 'Whisky Galore' story.
You can drive to Eriskay easily. The beaches there have that turquoise water. The Eriskay ponies wander about. From there or from Lochboisdale you can get boat trips over to Barra or out to more remote islands like St Kilda.
The history here is deep. There are old stone structures and sites all over the islands. You'll hear Gaelic spoken. It’s a proper crofting community.
For facilities: there's a wood burning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi and TV. Parking for a couple of cars right at the house. You can bring two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot if you need one.
