This is North Road Cottage. It’s in Hackforth, which is a quiet village in North Yorkshire. The cottage is semi-detached, built from stone. We did it up completely in 2022, so everything is fresh and works properly.
It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main bedroom has its own shower room. One of the other bedrooms has a double bed and a little reading corner, and the third has twin beds. There’s a family bathroom upstairs with a bath, and a separate toilet downstairs.
Inside, it’s got oak floors and a wood burner in the living room. The kitchen is bright, with Velux windows. There’s a separate dining room. Outside is an enclosed patio with furniture, looking onto fields.
You can walk straight from the door into the countryside. You’re on the edge of Wensleydale. The walks range from easy to quite steep up places like Penhill.
Bedale is about four miles away. It’s a small market town with shops, cafes, and a couple of pubs. Leyburn, Richmond, and Masham are all within a short drive. Richmond has a very good castle.
For days out, a lot of people go to The Forbidden Corner near Coverdale. It’s unusual. There’s also Thorp Perrow Arboretum. For history, Fountains Abbey and Jervaulx Abbey are both within a 30 minute drive. Hornby Castle is literally just up the road from the cottage, and you can often see deer in the parkland.
For general planning, the Yorkshire Dales National Park website is useful.
In terms of what’s here: there’s a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. There’s parking on the drive. One well-behaved dog is welcome. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the main living space is all on one level once you're inside.
